The FGM300 is a solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 1994, replacing the FGM100. It is a signature model of Australian jazz fusion guitarist Frank Gambale. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
Like the FGM100 it replaced, the FGM300 is based on the Ibanez S series and has flush mounted pickups and a deep-set neck and tremolo which allows an extra low string set-up. Changes include new pickups and the Green Metallic finish — this finish is variously referred to as GM (Green Metallic) or MG (Metallic Green) in the catalogs, but both are believed to be the same color.
The FGM300 features a mahogany body bolted to a maple Wizard neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and sharktooth position markers. Components include DiMarzio pickups with a pair of traditional humbuckers flanking a single-coil sized rails humbucker, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuning machines.
The FGM200 is a related model with a fixed bridge and rear-mounted pickups.
The FGM300 was discontinued after 1996 in favor of the new FGM400.
