The EXB404 is a EXB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1989. It was produced in South Korea as part of the Standard line. It is also called EX404
The EXB404 features a (very similar RG shape) double-cutaway basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers, white side dots and a black headstock. Components includes Powersound pickups (P/J) configuration, an standard fixed bridge with 19mm string spacing, a grahite nut, chrome hardware and Ibanez die-cast tuning machines.
The wood used for the body of the EXB404 has undergone many changes over the years: From 1989 to 1990 the US market used Basswood, the rest of the world used Jelutong, For 1991 Agathis was the option. From 1992 until 1995 Ligth maple ( or light american maple ) was used.
The EXB404L is a left-handed version. The EXB405 is a similar model with a PP configuration.
