The EW35SPE is an Exotic Wood series acoustic-electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2011. It was produced in China.
The EW35SPE features an EW body with a soft Florentine cutaway constructed of a laminated sapele pommele top with mahogany binding on laminated sapele pommele sides and back with a high gloss finish. The round soundhole has an abalone rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with a secial pearloid inlay at the twelfth fret. Components include an Ivorex II compensated saddle in a rosewood bridge, Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, an Ivorex II nut, and chrome Ibanez Smooth Tuner AS die-cast tuning machines.
Electronics consist of a B-Band UST undersaddle pickup connected to an Ibanez SRTc preamp with chorus and onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery and feeding balanced XLR and ¼" outputs.
For 2013 the nut and saddle were changed to plastic and the tuners were changed to Ibanez die-cast units.
The EW35ABE and EW35CPE are similar models with, respectively, olive ash burl and camphor tree bodies. The EW35QME is a related model with a quilted maple body and a different preamp.
The EW35SPE was discontinued in 2014 along with the rest of the Exotic Wood series.
