The EP5 is a Euphoria series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2011. It is an acoustic signature model for American guitarist Steve Vai. It is produced in China.
The EP5 features a thinline Florentine cutaway body shape with a solid Englemann spruce top with cross-bracing and mahogany back and sides with a gloss finish. The soundhole is oval with a rosette decal with Vai logos. It has a satin-finished mahogany neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with a special Vai logo inlay at the twelfth fret. Components include an Ivorex II saddle in a rosewood bridge with Ibanez Advantage pins, an Ivorex II nut, a tortoise pickguard and gold Ibanez die-cast tuning machines with brown tortoiseshell buttons. Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore undersaddle pickup connected to an Ibanez AEQ210TF with onboard tuner and a 9V battery compartment with a ¼" output.
For 2013 the Ivorex II nut and saddle were replaced with plastic. For 2018 the rosewood fretboard and bridge were replaced with cultured maple. For 2019 the mahogany back and sides were replaced with okuome and the mahogany neck was replaced with nyatoh.
