The Deluxe Fancy tailpiece is a type of stop tailpiece used on a number of hard-tail Ibanez models from the mid-to-late 1970s. It was designed by and produced for Ibanez. It is variously referred to as simply the Deluxe tailpiece or the Fancy tailpiece.
The Deluxe Fancy tailpiece serves to retain the strings at the bridge end. The sides of the tailpiece are scalloped and the top features a decorative embossed vine treatment. It is attached to the guitar on a pair of threaded studs mounted into sleeves sunk into the guitar top. The studs have slotted tops to allow height adjustment of the tailpiece.
The Deluxe Fancy tailpiece relies on a separate bridge which allows the string height and intonation to be adjusted. It is typically used in conjunction with a standard Tune-o-matic style bridge. Strings must be fed through a hole in the tailpiece before being routed over the bridge saddles and attached to the tuning machines.
This tailpiece was discontinued around 1980.
