The Darkstone series is a line of solid body electric guitar models sold by Hoshino Gakki under the Ibanez brand. The Darkstone line was introduced in 2009.[1]

The Darkstone models have an original body design with an offset, double cutaway shape with short, horns which come to a point and a jog in the body near the butt-end strap button which is reminiscent of the Iceman design. The design evokes the Concert series shape from the late-1970s which can be described as a sort of cross between a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Strat.

Both the neck and body of all of the Darkstone models are constructed of sapele, which is a wood species that is somewhat similar to mahogany. The guitars are produced in China.

History[]

Two Darkstone models were introduced in 2009: the DN400 and DN500. The main difference between the two models are the pickups: the DN400 has HS1 humbucker-sized single coil pickups, the DN500 has PP1 humbuckers. Both sets pickups were designed for these models.

The series was discontinued after 2013 with the DN300 being the last model.
