The DWB2 is a solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1999. It is a signature model for American bassist Doug Wimbish who is known primarily for his work with the rock band Living Colour and his work with the seminal hip-hop outfit The Sugarhill Gang. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
The DWB2 features a maple body with walnut stripes which is based on the Soundgear series but with specific contours and deeply scooped cutaways on the horns to Wimbish's specifications. This body is bolted to a laminated maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl and abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez AFR active pickups with a J-style pickup at the bridge and a P-style at the neck, a custom 2-band preamp, an Accu-Cast bridge, a brass nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The DWB1 is a similar model with neck-through-body construction and gold hardware.
