The DG555 is a Destroyer series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1986. It replaced the Pro Rock'r equipped DT555.
The DG555 features an angular Destroyer-style basswood body mated to a set-in three-piece maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with block position markers. Components include three Ibanez V2 humbucking pickups and an Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut.
The pickups are wired such that the 3-way toggle controls which of the outside pickups are active (neck/ both/ bridge) and volume for these pickups is controlled by a single control. The second volume control allows the center pickup to be blended in with any combination of the other two. A single tone covers all three pickups.
For 1987 the DG555 got the Back Stop tremolo stop. The combination of the Edge tremolo, Back Stop and Top-Lok III nut were marketed as the Sure Bet Tuning System.
The DG555 was discontinued after 1987.
