The BTB846V is a six string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in 2018. It is made in Indonesia as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop line is part of the shorter (838mm/ 33") scale "Volo" series.
The BTB846V features neck through body construction with a poplar burl top and mahogany back on ash wings attached to a 33" (833mm) scale maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret jatoba fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Bartolini BH2 passive pickups with an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, stainless steel frets including a zero fret, a finger ramp which matches the top, a Mono-rail V bridge with 16.5 mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2019 the body back material was changed from mahogany to okoume.
The BTB845V is a similar five string model. The BTB846SC is a similar model with a single cutaway body style. The BTB846 is a related standard model with a longer 35" scale neck.
