The BTB747 is a seven string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2017. It is made in Indonesia and was initially part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop line; since 2018 it has been in the standard line.
The BTB747 features neck through body construction with a walnut top and mahogany back on ash wings attached to a nine-piece maple, rosewood and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Bartolini BH2 passive pickups channeled through an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, stainless steel frets including a zero fret, individually mounted Mono-rail V bridges with 15.5mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut, and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2018 the rosewood fretboard was replaced with jatoba and the maple, rosewood and walnut neck was replaced with a maple, panga panga and walnut construction with graphite reinforcing rods. For 2019 the mahogany back was replaced with okoume. For 2021 the fretboard material was changed back to rosewood.
The BTB740, BTB745 and BTB746 are four, five and six string versions, respectively.
