The BTB746 is a six string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2017. It is made in Indonesia as part of the Standard line.
The BTB746 features neck through body construction with a walnut top and mahogany back on ash wings attached to a maple and rosewood neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Bartolini BH2 passive pickups channeled through an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, stainless steel frets including a zero fret, individually mounted Mono-rail V bridges with 17mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut, and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2018 the rosewood fretboard was replaced with jatoba and the maple and rosewood neck was replaced with maple and walnut. For 2019 the mahogany back was replaced with okoume and graphite reinforcing rods were added to the neck. For 2021 the fretboard material was changed back to rosewood.
The BTB740, BTB745 and BTB747 are four, five and seven string versions, respectively. The BTB846 is a similar model with a poplar burl top. The BTB766 is a similar model with a flamed maple top.
