The BTB705 is a five string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1999. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the Standard line.
The BTB705 features an ovankol top on an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers and white side dots. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of DFR-5 passive pickups feeding a Vari-mid 3-band HiFi preamp, medium frets, individually mounted Mono-rail II bridges with 19mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut, and Gotoh tuning machines.
For 2000 the neck was changed to a five piece maple and bubinga construction and the hardware was changed to cosmo white.
