The BTB686SC is a six string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2014. It was made in Indonesia as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop line.
The BTB686SC "Terra Firma" features neck through body construction with a rosewood top on ash wings attached to a maple and bubinga neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a single cutaway design with a very prominent upper bout and a narrow, curving lower horn which meets the neck from the 12th to the 24th fret. This design is said to maximize stability and provide increased sustain.
Components include a pair of Bartolini BH1 passive pickups with an EQB-IIISC preamp with a three-band EQ, individually mounted Mono-rail II bridges with 17mm string spacing, a side mounted Neutrik locking output jack, a Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
The BTB686MSC is a similar model with a maple fretboard. The BTB685SC is a similar five string model.
The BTB686SC was discontinued after 2016.
