The BTB685MSC is a five string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2015. It was made in Indonesia as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop line.
The BTB685SC "Terra Firma" features neck through body construction with a rosewood top on ash wings attached to a maple and bubinga neck with a 24-fret maple fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a single cutaway design with a very prominent upper bout and a narrow, curving lower horn which meets the neck from the 12th to the 24th fret. This design is said to maximize stability and provide increased sustain.
Components include a pair of Bartolini BH1 passive pickups with an EQB-IIISC preamp with a three-band EQ, individually mounted Mono-rail II bridges with 16.5mm string spacing, a side mounted Neutrik locking output jack, a Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
The BTB685SC is a similar model with a rosewood fretboard. The BTB686MSC is a similar six string model.
The BTB685MSC was discontinued after 2016.
