The BTB556MP is a six string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2005. It was produced by World Musical Instrument Co. in Incheon South Korea as part of the Standard line.
The BTB556MP features mahogany body with maple top and backbolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers and white side dots. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of DXP passive pickups with a Vari-Mid IIIB 3-band EQ, stainless steel frets, Mono-rail bridges with 17mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and die-cast tuning machines.
For 2006 the pickups was changed to Bartolini MK1-6.
The BTB550MP is a similar four string model. The BTB555MP is a similar five string model.
