The BTB555MP is a five string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2005. It was produced in South Korea by World Musical Instrument Company as part of the Standard line.
The BTB555MP features mahogany body with maple top and back bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers and white side dots. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Ibanez IBZ DFR-5 passive pickups with a Vari-Mid IIIB 3-band preamp EQ, medium frets, a MR-2 bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and die-cast tuning machines.
For 2006 the pickups was changed to Bartolini MK1-5.
The BTB550MP is a similar four string model. The BTB556MP is a similar six string model.
