The BTB550MP is a BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2005. It was produced in South Korea by World Musical Instrument Company as part of the Standard line.
The BTB550MP features mahogany body with maple top and back bolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers and white side dots. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Ibanez DFR-4 passive pickups with a Vari-Mid IIIB 3-band EQ, a MR-2 bridge with 19mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and die-cast tuning machines.
For 2006 the pickups was changed to Bartolini MK1.
The BTB555MP is a similar five string model. The BTB556MP is a similar six string model.
