The BTB505 is a five string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1999. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the Standard line.
The BTB505 features an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of DFR-5 active pickups feeding a Vari-mid 3-band HiFi preamp, individually mounted Mono-rail II bridges with 19mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut, and Gotoh tuning machines.
For 2000 the neck was changed to a five piece maple and bubinga construction and the hardware was changed to cosmo white.
The BTB500 is a four string version. The BTB705 is a similar model with an ovankol top.
