The BTB500 is a BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid-1999. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the Standard line.
The BTB500 features an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers and white side dots. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Ibanez DFR-4 passive pickups feeding a Vari-Mid 3-band Hi-Fi EQ, individually mounted Mono-rail II bridges with 19mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
For 2000 the neck was changed to a five piece maple and bubinga construction and the hardware was changed to cosmo white.
The BTB505 is a five string version. The BTB700 is a similar model with an ovankol top.
