The BTB1906SM is a six string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2020. It was made in Indonesia as part of the mid-tier Premium line.
The BTB1906SM features neck through body construction with a spalted maple top and back on African mahogany wings attached to a graphite reinforced panga panga and purpleheart neck with a 24-fret panga panga fingerboard with binding and offset abalone dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Aguilar DCB passive pickups with an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, stainless steel frets including a zero fret with Premium fret edge treatment, Mono-rail bridges with 17mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The BTB1905SM is a similar five string model. The BTB1826 is a similar model with a walnut top and back. The BTB1906 is a previous model with flamed maple top and back. The BTB1936 is a similar model with a curly maple and walnut top and back.
The BRB1906SM was discontinued after 2020 — the BTB1906LW is a similar model introduced for 2021 with a lacewood front and back.
