The BTB1005 is a five string BTB series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1999. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The BTB1005 features a curly maple top on a mahogany body bolted to a maple and bubinga neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of Ibanez Custom soapbar passive pickups with an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, stainless steel frets , Mono-rail bridges with 16.5mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The BTB1005 is the initial model in the BTB series. The BTB1000 is a similar four string model. The BTB1006 is a similar six string model.
