The Axe Design Lab series was introduced by Ibanez in January 2023 with a collection of experimental electric guitars in the form of varying string configurations – six-strings, eight-strings and nine-strings are, including DiMarzio or Fishman pickups, multi-scale designs and versatile switching systems.
The first five official models in the series are: The RG9PB, RG8870, RGA622XH, RGDMS8 and SML721
The Axe Design Lab series will replace the Axion Label series, and will in time "cover every Ibanez product tier".
