The Artwood series is a line of acoustic guitar models produced both by and for Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand.
The Artwood series was designed to blend the best traditional elements with modern guitar construction. Technology moves forward at a frenetic pace, and the world of guitar building is no different.
History[]
The Artwood brand originated in 1979. Prior to that, Hoshino Gakki had been producing acoustic guitars under their TAMA brand. These TAMA guitars were mostly copies of acoustic guitars from the big American builders, notably C.F. Martin. The top tier of these TAMA guitars were produced in-house by Hoshino Gakki in their TAMA Seisakusho (trans. TAMA Manufactuing Plant); indeed it's possible that all of the TAMA guitars were produced here. This plant continued to produce the top models in the newly re-branded Artwood range starting in 1979.
