The Affirma series also called "AFR" or (Advanced Form Range) is a line of solid body bass guitars produced by Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. The Affirma series was introduced in 1992.

History[]

In the early '90s, Ibanez broke into the high-end boutique bass market with its unique concept of Affirma bass with a compact and lightweight body, designed by Swiss Luthier "Rolf Spuler" (1958-2014) resulted in a bass with an elegant feel enhanced by its beautiful streamline shape. The Affirma series had a short life starting in 1992 and ending in 1995.

For 2019 a new series of Affirma basses is reintroduced including four and five-string Premium models: The AFR4FMP and AFR5FMP are each built with a body constructed from maple, walnut, and flamed maple, while the AFR4WAP and AFR5WAP have a solid walnut body.

For 2020 two more models were added : The AFR4PBP and AFR5PBP these were the last until the series was discontinued in 2022.
