The AZ2204N is an AZ series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2021. It is produced in Japan by Fujigen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The AZ2204N features an alder body bolted to an S-Tech roasted maple oval C shaped neck with a compound radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 stainless steel frets, mother of pearl dot position markers and luminescent side dots. Components include Seymour Duncan Fortuna pickups mounted in a red tortoise pickguard with a humbucker at the bridge and single-coils in the neck and middle positions, a T1702B two-point synchronized tremolo bridge, a bone nut, an angled output jack and Gotoh locking tuning machines with height-adjustable posts.
The AZ2204N employs a dyna-MIX9 switching system (see diagram below) with an "Alter switch" toggle which allows the user to access nine distinct tones. The Alter switch allows the player to access two modes with the single coils connected in series creating a tone similar to a second humbucker.
The AZ2204NW is a similar model with a cream pickguard. The AZ2204 is a related model with a recessed tremolo, different pickups, a roasted maple fretboard and a white pearloid pickguard. The AZ2204B is a related model with a recessed tremolo, different pickups, a roasted maple fretboard and a black pickguard.
