The AZ2204B is an AZ series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2020. It is produced in Japan by Fujigen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The AZ2204B features an alder body bolted to an S-Tech roasted maple oval C shaped neck with an S-Tech roasted maple fingerboard with 22 stainless steel frets, black dot position markers and luminescent side dots. Components include Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups mounted in a black pickguard with a humbucker at the bridge and single-coils in the neck and middle positions, a Gotoh T1802 two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with titanium saddles, an oil-impregnated bone nut, an angled output jack and Gotoh locking tuning machines with height-adjustable posts.
The AZ2204B employs a dyna-MIX9 switching system (see diagram below) with an "Alter switch" toggle which allows the user to access nine distinct tones. The Alter switch allows the player to access two modes with the single coils connected in series creating a tone similar to a second humbucker.
The AZ2204 is a similar model with a white pearloid pickguard. The IKAZ03 is a nearly identical predecessor spot model which has a solid matte black pickguard. The AZ24047 is a visually similar seven string model with a 24-fret neck. The AZ2204N is a related model with a non-recessed tremolo, different pickups, a rosewood fretboard and a red tortoise pickguard.
