The AXS42 is an AX series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2006. It was made in Korea and replaced the similar AXS32
The AXS42 features a double cutaway mahogany body with crystal cut edges mated to a set-in mahogany neck with a smooth heel and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and special block position markers. Components include a pair of covered Ibanez Axis humbucking pickups and a Full Tune III Tune-O-matic style bridge with a tailpiece.
The AXS42 was the last new non-GIO AX model introduced until the AX120 in 2018. It was discontinued after just one year.
