The AXD81 is an Artcore series hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2003. It was made in China.
The AXD guitars have a compact, arched top, flat back, single-cutaway, semi-hollow body which offers the warm tones of a hollow body design without the bulk.
The AXD81 features an arched, laminated sycamore top with ƒ holes and ivory multi-binding on maple back and sides mated to a set-in mahogany and maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and abalone block position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Artcore humbucking pickups with chrome covers mounted in ivory pickup rings, an ART-1 Tune-o-matic style bridge with a Quik Change tailpiece, a plastic nut, speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines with half moon buttons.
The AXD71 is a similar model with a maple top and one-piece neck.
This AXD81 was discontinued after 2005.
