The AX7221 is a seven string AX series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1999. It was initially made in Japan, but production was moved to Korea in 2000 and then to Indonesia in 2003.
The AX7221 features a mahogany body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers. Components include dual Ibanez Axis humbucking pickups and a fixed bridge.
For 2000 the one-piece neck was replaced with a 5-piece construction of maple and walnut.
The RG7321 and S7421 are similar models with different body styles. They are among the first seven-string models produced by Ibanez. The AX7521 is a Japanese model with different components.
The AX7221 was discontinued after 2007. Another non-GIO AX series model would not be introduced until the AX120 in 2018.
