The AWD83 is an Artcore series hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2006. It was made in China and replaced the AWD82.
The AWD guitars have an arched top, double-cutaway, semi-hollow body design with a modern shape vaguely reminiscent of a Fender Stratocaster or some of Ibanez's Roadstar II series models from the 1980s. It has an arched top and a flat back.
The AWD83 features an arched, laminated figured bubinga top with ƒ holes and ivory multi-binding on maple back and sides mated to a set-in mahogany and maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and Artcore DX acrylic and abalone split block position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Artcore humbucking pickups with chrome covers mounted in ivory pickup rings, an integrated Short Stop III bridge and tailpiece, a plastic nut, speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines with half moon buttons.
The AWD83T is a similar model with a tremolo bridge. The AWD72 is a similar model with a maple top and a one-piece neck.
This AWD83 was discontinued after 2007.
