The AWD/FWD series is a line of semi-hollow body electric guitars produced for Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. The AWD body type is a compact, semi-hollow, arched-top, double cutaway electric guitar with a shape modeled after a traditional solid body guitar. The FWD is a similar flat-top guitar. The AWD body was introduced for 2005.
The initial models were the arched-top AWD82, AWD82LTD and AWD82T trio and the flat-top FWD60 which were all part of the Artcore series. These were followed by a number of additional models the following year including the Artcore Custom series AWD102. The line was discontinued after 2007, but the similar AJD models were released for 2008.
