The AW84CE is an Artwood series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2016. It was made in China.
The AW84CE features a dreadnought body shape with a Venetian cutaway with a solid mahogany top on mahogany back and sides with an open pore finish. The round soundhole has a simple black and white acrylic rosette and a black or red tortoise pickguard. The mahogany neck has a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with small white dot position markers. Components include a compensated bone saddle in a rosewood bridge with black Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, a bone nut, and chrome Ibanez tuning machines. Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore pickup connected to an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery and balanced XLR and ¼" outputs.
For 2018 the rosewood fretboard and bridge were replaced with ovangkol. For 2019 the mahogany top, back and sides were replaced with okoume, the mahogany neck was replaced with nyatoh, the pickup was replaced with an Ibanez T-bar undersaddle pickup and the preamp was replaced with an Ibanez AEQ-TP2.
The AW8412CE is a 12-string version. The AW80CE is a similar model with a Sitka spruce top. The AW54CE is a similar model with a plastic nut and saddle and a natural different finish.
This Chinese-made AW84CE was discontinued after 2022, and replaced by a new version which was produced in Indonesia and has some different specs.
