The AW50 is an Artwood series acoustic guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2012. It was made in China.
The AW50 features a dreadnought body shape with a solid Sitka spruce top with binding on sapele back and sides with a gloss finish. The soundhole is round with a black and white multi rosette and a black pickguard. The mahogany neck has a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with small white dot position markers. Components include an Ivorex II saddle in a rosewood bridge with white Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, an Ivorex II nut and chrome Ibanez Smooth Tuner AS tuning machines.
Several changes were introduced in mid-2012: the body depth was increased slightly as was the neck scale, the back and sides changed from sapele to mahogany, the Ivorex saddle and nut were replaced with plastic and the tuners were changed to Ibanez die-cast.
The AW50ECE is a similar acoustic/ electric model with a cutaway body. The AW54 is a related model with a solid mahogany (later okoume) top. The AW58 is a related model with rosewood back and sides. The AW65 is a related model with a solid cedar top and no pickguard. The AW70 is a related model with a tortoise pickguard and different binding.
