The AW18 is an Artwood series acoustic model introduced by Ibanez for 1986. It was produced in Japan.
The AW18 features a dreadnought body with solid spruce top with black and white binding on nato wood back and sides. The round soundhole is trimmed with black and white purfling rosette and has a black pickguard. The selected mahogany neck has a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers and a rosewood headstock. Components include Tru-Tune saddle on a rosewood bridge, a synthetic nut and chrome Die-cast machine heads.
For 1988 the back and sides material was changed to mahogany and the machine heads to Smmot tuner. For 1989 the machine heads are changed to die-cast again. For 1990 the scale was changed to "640mm".
The AW18-12 is a 12-string version. The AW28 is a similar model with rosewood back and sides. The AW100 is a related model with ovangkol back and sides.
