The AS80 is an Artstar series hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1994. It was made in South Korea.
The AS80 features a semi-hollow, double cutaway body design with an arched, laminated maple top with ƒ holes and ivory multi-binding on maple back and sides with a center block mated to a set-in maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and abalone dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Super 50 humbucking pickups with chrome covers and individual volume and tone controls, black pickup rings, a Tune-o-matic style Full Tune bridge, a stop tailpiece, a plastic nut, a black pickguard, speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 1996 the bridge was changed to the Full Tune II. Several changes were introduced for 1997: the AS80 adopted a new shape with the more pointed horns of the AS200 and the pickups were changed to Super 58s.
The AS120 is a related model with split block fretboard inlays and gold hardware.
