The AS50 is an Artstar series hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1998. It was made in South Korea, probably by Cort.[1] It was a spot model which never appeared in a catalog.
The AS50 features a semi-hollow, double cutaway body design with an arched, laminated maple top with ƒ holes and ivory multi-binding on maple back and sides with a center block bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and abalone dot position markers. Components include a pair of uncovered Ibanez Powersound humbucking pickups with individual volume and tone controls, black pickup rings, a Tune-o-matic style Full Tune bridge, a stop tailpiece, a plastic nut, a black pickguard, speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines.
This is one of very few modern hollow-body Ibanez guitars to have a bolt-on neck, rather than a glued set-in neck joint.
The AS80 is a similar model with different pickups.
