The APEX series is a signature line of seven-string guitars created by Ibanez for Korn's guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer. They are newer and modified versions of the original Korn signature model, the K7.

History[]

The APEX1 was released in 2007. It has a mahogany RG-style body and comes in a unique textured Biker's Black finish. The APEX2 is a more affordable version of the APEX1. They each come factory tuned to Korn's signature tuning: A,D,G,C,F,A,D. These guitars are known for producing a deep metallic sound, due to the tuning for Munky's low-end crunch.

The APEX100 has replaced the APEX1 in 2011. The APEX100 has a body made of alder unlike the previous APEX models that were made from mahogany.

A new APEX200 was introduced in mid-2014 following closely behind the more affordable APEX20 which was introduced earlier in 2014.

The APEX30, which is the first APEX model based on the RGA series, was introduced for 2020. A limited edition 20th anniversary version of the original K7, the K720th was also released in 2020.
