The AKJCRG70th is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2020. It was crafted in Japan by Sugi as part of the high-end J Custom line. The AKJCRG70th is a spot model which was made in collaboration with Japanese retailer Aikyoku Gakki to celebrate that company's 70th anniversary.
The AKJCRG70th features a 4mm thick exotic maple top on a slightly smaller (98% normal size) RG body of African mahogany bolted to a roasted maple and African mahogany neck which is also slightly shorter than the typical RG neck with a 24¾" scale. The neck has a rosewood fingerboard with 24 nickel silver frets with hemispherical fret end treatment and white pearl dot position markers. The headstock has the same exotic maple veneer as the top. Components include a pair of DiMarzio humbucking pickups with an Air Norton at the neck and a Tone Zone at the bridge, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge, recessed Easy Access control knobs, Gotoh tuning machines and Gotoh Free-Lock II strap pins.
