The AK86 is a hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2006. It was made in China as part of the Artcore Deluxe series. It replaced the similar AK85.
The AK86 features a thick, full-hollow body design with a laminated spruce top with ƒ holes and cream multi-binding on flamed maple back and sides with a single pointed Florentine cutaway mated to a set-in mahogany and maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with cream binding and abalone block position markers. Components include dual Ibanez Artcore humbucking pickups with chrome covers and individual volume and tone controls, an ART-W bridge with wooden saddle and base, a VT100DX wood-decorated tailpiece, ivory plastic nut and pickup rings, a spruce pickguard with matching finish, speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines.
The AK84 is a related fully acoustic model without any pickups. The AK95 is a related model with flamed maple back and sides and a different tailpiece.
The AK86 was produced for only one year.
