The AG96 features a mid-sized, full-hollow body design with a laminated flamed maple top with ƒ holes and cream multi-binding on flamed maple back and sides with a single Venetian cutaway mated to a set-in mahogany and maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with cream binding and acrylic block position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Artcore humbucking pickups with gold covers and individual volume and tone controls, a Tune-o-matic style bridge on a wooden base, a VT100DX rosewood tailpiece, a plastic nut, a matching flamed maple pickguard, Speed knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines.
The truss rod cover was changed for 2010.
The AG95 is a similar model with a figured bubinga body.
