The AG85 features a mid-sized, full-hollow body design with a laminated linden top with ƒ holes and black & cream multi-binding on linden back and sides with a single Venetian cutaway mated to a set-in nyatoh and maple neck with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with black binding and acrylic block position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Magic Touch mini humbucking pickups with gold covers and individual volume and tone controls, a Tune-o-matic style Gibraltar Performer bridge on a laurel base, a trapeze tailpiece, a plastic nut, a gold pickguard, Sure Grip III knobs, and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2021 the fretboard material was changed to Macassar ebony.
