The AEW40ZW is an AEW series acoustic/ electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2015. It was produced in China.
The AEW40ZW features a grand concert shaped body with a soft Florentine cutaway. The top is laminated zebrawood with multi wooden binding on zebrawood back and sides with a high gloss finish. The round soundhole has a maple rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a dovetail neck joint and a 25½" scale, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with maple dot position markers. Components include a plastic saddle in a rosewood bridge, black plastic bridge pins, a plastic nut, and chrome Ibanez die-cast tuning machines with black buttons.
Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore pickup, an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery and balanced XLR and ¼" outputs.
For 2018 the fretboard and bridge were changed to treated New Zealand pine.
The AEW40CD is a related model with a walnut body. The AEW40AS is a related model with a figured ash body. The AEW23ZW is a related model with a spruce top.
The AEW40ZW was discontinued after 2018.
