The AEW22CD is an AEW series acoustic-electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2014. It was produced in China.
The AEW22CD features a grand concert shaped body with a soft Florentine cutaway. The top is laminated spruce with multi wooden purfling with rosewood binding on cordia sides and a two-piece back with wooden multi strip inlay. The finish is a natural high gloss. The round soundhole has a walnut, spalted maple, and rosewood rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a dovetail neck joint and a 25½" scale, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with maple dot position markers. Components include a plastic saddle in a rosewood bridge, black plastic bridge pins, a plastic nut, and chrome Ibanez die-cast tuning machines with black buttons.
Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore pickup, an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery and balanced XLR and ¼" outputs.
For 2016 the back and sides were changed to walnut.
The AEW2212CD is a twelve string version. The AEW23MV is a related model with movingui back and sides and without the marquetry top inlay. The AEW23ZW is a related model with zebrawood back and sides and without the marquetry top inlay. The AEW40CD is a related model with a cordia or walnut top.
The AEW22CD was discontinued after 2017.
