The AEW1EX is an AEW series acoustic/ electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2015. It was a spot model which was produced in China and sold exclusively in Canada.
The AEW1EX features a grand concert shaped body with a soft Florentine cutaway. The top is laminated spruce with mahogany binding on mahogany back and sides with a high gloss dark red burst finish. The round soundhole has a custom rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a dovetail neck joint and a 25½" scale, 20-fret ebony fingerboard with abalone and mother of pearl split block position markers. Components include a plastic saddle in an ebony bridge, black plastic bridge pins, a plastic nut, and chrome Ibanez die-cast tuning machines with black buttons.
Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore pickup, an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery and balanced XLR and ¼" outputs.
