The AEL1512E is a twelve string AEL series acoustic-electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2013. It was produced in China.
The AEL1512E features a jumbo AEL body with a Venetian cutaway. The top is laminated spruce with black and white multi-binding on maple back and sides with a high gloss finish. The round soundhole has a pearloid rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot position markers. Components include a plastic saddle in a rosewood bridge, Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, a plastic nut, and chrome Ibanez die-cast tuning machines.
For 2016 the pearloid rosette was replaced with acrylic.
Electronics consist of an Ibanez undersaddle pickup, an Ibanez SPT Shape Shifter preamp with onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery, and balanced XLR and ¼" outputs. For 2016 the preamp was changed to the Ibanez AEQ-2T.
The AEL15E is a six string version. The AEL2012E is a related model with a thinner body, a flamed maple top and a different preamp.
The AEL1512E was discontinued after 2017.
