The AEF1812E is an AEF series 12-string acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2005. It was produced in China and sold only in the US. The AEF1812E replaced the similar AEF1812
The AEF1812E features an AEL jumbo-sized body with a Venetian cutaway constructed of a spruce top with binding on mahogany sides and arched mahogany back. The round soundhole has a fire rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with small white dot position markers. Components include an Ivorex II compensated saddle in a rosewood bridge, Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, an Ivorex II nut, and chrome Die-cast tuning machines.
Electronics consist of an Ibanez B-Band SQR pickup connected to an Ibanez AEQ-SRT Shape Shifter preamp with onboard tuner powered by a 9V battery and feeding balanced XLR and ¼" outputs.
For 2007 the electronics were changed to an Ibanez B-Band UST pickup connected to an Ibanez SRTn preamp with notch filter and onboard tuner.
The AEF18E is the six-string version. The AEF20CSNE is a related nylon-string model with solid cedar top on arched mahogany body, mahogany rosette and gold classical tuners.
