The AE245 is an AE series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2016. It is produced in China.
The AE245 features a Venetian cutaway body shape with a solid mahogany top with scalloped cross-bracing and mahogany back (with Tone Projection cross bracing) and sides with a gloss finish. The soundhole is round with an abalone and maple rosette. It has a satin-finished mahogany neck with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with special mother of pearl position markers. Components include a compensated bone saddle in a rosewood bridge with Ibanez Advantage pins, a bone nut, a tortoise pickguard and chrome die-cast tuning machines. Electronics consist of a T-bar undersaddle pickup connected to an Ibanez Custom Electronics preamp mounted internally with a ¼" endpin output.
For 2018 the fretboard and bridge material were changed from rosewood to ovangkol. For 2019 the top was changed from solid mahogany to solid okoume, the back and sides from mahogany to okoume, the neck from mahogany to nyatoh and the fretboard and bridge from ovangkol to katalox. For 2020 the internal top bracing was changed to standard X-M style. For 2021 the body was very slightly enlarged.
The AE245L is a left-handed version. The AE2412 is a similar 12-string model. The AE205 is a similar model with a Sitka spruce top. The AE305 and AE315 are related models with Sitka spruce tops. The AE245JR is a related model with a shorter scale neck and downsized body.
