The AE205 is an AE series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2016. It was produced in China.
The AE205 features a Venetian cutaway body shape with a solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped cross-bracing and mahogany back (with Tone Projection cross bracing) and sides with a gloss finish. The soundhole is round with an abalone and maple rosette and a red tortoise pickguard. It has a satin-finished mahogany neck with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with wooden vine inlays. Components include a compensated bone saddle in a rosewood bridge with Ibanez Advantage pins, a bone nut, and chrome tuning machines. Electronics consist of a T-bar undersaddle pickup connected to an Ibanez Custom Electronics preamp mounted internally with a ¼" endpin output.
For 2018 the fretboard and bridge were changed from rosewood to ovangkol. For 2019 the back and sides were changed from mahogany to okoume, the neck from mahogany to nyatoh and the fretboard and bridge from ovangkol to katalox.
The AE205A is a similar model with an ivory pickguard. The AE205J is a similar model with a rosewood fretboard and bridge. The AE245 is a similar model with a mahogany top. The AE205JR is a related model with a downsized body and a shorter scale neck.
