The AE120 is an AE series acoustic/electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1991. It was a spot model produced by Terada factory in Japan.
The AE120 "Super Edition" features a flamed maple body with venetian cutaway and abalone binding. The round soundhole has abalone prfling rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl abalone split blocks position markers and a "Super Edition" inlay at the 21 fret, the headstock has a special inlay. Components include a compensated bone saddle on a rosewood bridge with fancy pearl inlays, Gotoh tuners with pearl buttons, and a truss rod covered engraved with "AE-II". The battery compartment is located on the rear of the body. No bridge pins were used, the strings where held in place directly through the bridge cuts. The preamp was unbranded and had a 3 band EQ and volume control.
Paul Gilbert can be seen playing an AE120 in the official video for the song "To Be With You" by Mr. Big. Andy Timmons also played an AE120 during his time playing with the band Danger Danger.[1]
