The 983 is a Vintage series acoustic guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1976. It was crafted in Japan.
The 983 features a dreadnought body with an aged well seasoned solid spruce top on selected matchet rosewood sides and back with wood marquetry strip. The round soundhole is trimmed with a black and white marquetry rosette and a black pickguard. The mahogany neck has a 21-fret polished rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a compensated plastic saddle in an none adjustable rosewood bridge with white bridge pins, a plastic nut, and deluxe chrome plated smooth tuner nylon housing machine heads.
The 981 is a related model with a selected well seasoned "solid" spruce top on aged mahogany sides and back bound with black trim.
